Tiernan O’Halloran has ended speculation of a potential move away from Connacht by signing a new two-year deal with the province.

The Ireland international’s deal will see him remain at the Sportsground until the end of the 2019/20 season.

Connacht head coach Kieran Keane said this week he was unaware of rumours linking Munster with a move for their versatile back to replace French-bound Simon Zebo.

The 26-year-old made his Connacht debut in October 2009 and has earned six Ireland caps, his most recent coming during the summer tour of the USA.

"I am a proud Connacht man and am delighted to be extending my contract with my home province for a further two years," O’Halloran said.

"The current squad is an ambitious group and we are determined to bring further success to Connacht. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Connacht supporters who have been loyal to me and the entire team season after season."

"He has been an outstanding player for us over the past few seasons and will no doubt be a central figure for us as we target further success in the seasons ahead," Connacht CEO Willie Ruane added.
