New Zealand have made six changes for their Test side to face Ireland in Chicago on Saturday (kick-off 8pm).

The All Blacks, who crushed Australia 37-10 in their last outing, have brought in Waisake Naholo on the wing and George Moala at 13 with Israel Dagg and Anton Liernert Brown dropping out of the squad. Aaron Smith replaces TJ Perenara at scrum-half.

It will be a milestone moment for Julian Savea, who will run out in his 50th Test alongside fellow winger Naholo and Ben Smith at full-back. Ryan Crotty partners Moala at centre.

In the forwards, Jerome Kaino, shifts from his usual back-row role to cover lock alongside Patrick Tuipulotu as Liam Squire and Sam Cane come into the back row.

Squire has been named at blindside flanker for his second Test start this year, alongside Cane in the seven jersey, with All Blacks skipper Kieran Read playing his 95th Test from number eight.

The front row of Joe Moody, Owen Franks and hooker Dane Coles is unchanged as Brodie Retallick, Sam Whitelock and Matt Todd drop out of the 23.

Lock Scott Barrett, 22-year-old brother of out-half Beauden, is expected to make his Test debut from the replacements bench.

All Blacks head coach Steve Hansen said: “The challenge we face from Ireland is a massive one. They’re a well-coached team with quality players, they play to their strengths and they’re very good at identifying and attacking the weaknesses of the opposition they face.

"We anticipate them using some special plays that we haven’t seen before, as well as bringing a very physical, ‘in-your-face’ attitude and a structured kicking game. Knowing all this has created a good edge in our group.

“Having said that, I’m most interested in seeing what we’ll bring to the contest because, like us, they too have weaknesses and there’ll be a need to bring our own physicality, and structures to take the game to them for the full 80 minutes.

“With this being the first game of the four-match tour, it gives us an opportunity to take our game to the next level.”
