Leinster have confirmed that Sean O'Brien and Cian Healy are not expected to play any part in this month’s Champions Cup clashes with Castres and Wasps.

On Monday Leinster scrum coach Marco Caputo had indicated that the pair, who are making returns from long-term injuries, might feature in Leinster's visit to Wasps on 17 January.

However, in a squad update issued on Tuesday, the province said that Healy and O'Brien were still on individual training programmes with a view to making a return to full contact training in the next two to three weeks.

Neither is expected to be available for the Champions Cup games against Castres and Wasps this month .

With Ireland's first Six Nations game against Italy on 7 February, Joe Schmidt will be watching the pair's progress carefully.
