Leinster resume training on Wednesday ahead of their Guinness PRO12 match against the Blues on Friday but will have to plan without the injured Shane Jennings, who has been ruled out for three to four weeks.

The province confirmed that Jennings strained his hamstring in last Friday’s 10-9 loss to Connacht, and will miss three to four weeks of action.

Leinster face the Blues at the RDS on Friday before entertaining Munster at the Aviva Stadium on 4 October.

They open their European Champions Cup campaign at home to Wasps on 19 October, and Jennings now faces a race to regain his fitness in time for this game.

Leinster had better news with regard to Dave Kearney, who is continuing his rehabilitation from a knee injury.

Kearney took to the pitch for the first time on Monday, though he is still some weeks away from joining the rest of the squad, according to Leinster.

Hooker Richardt Strauss suffered no ill effects from his first contact sessions last week and is stepping up his rehab from his hamstring injury.
