AIB Division One set to revert to 15 matches

AIB League Division One games look set to revert to the original format of 15 games after it was earlier proposed that the calendar be reduced to 12 games.

The IRFU had initially accepted the shortened calendar proposal from the clubs but did not agree that relegation should be shelved for a year thereby increasing next season’s top tier from 16 to 18.

The matter is expected to be resolved next week, with an acceptance of relegation, with either a 15-game schedule involving seven midweek matches or a revised 12-game format.
