IRFU agree to reduce AIL programme

The IRFU have agreed to reduce the AIB League Division One programme by three games from 15 to 12 this season after discussions with the AIB League Clubs Working Party. The proposal to reduce the programme is aimed at ensuring the completion of the league in light of three weeks inactivity due to foot and mouth restrictions.

Next week’s resumption of games sees the original fixtures for March 10th go ahead and thereafter there will be a restructuring of the remaining programmes.

What format is to be followed is as yet undecided but the IRFU have said that each club will have played six home and six away games by league completion.
