The mares held centre stage on the opening day of the Cheltenham Festival.
Epatante brought clarity to the two-mile hurdle division while Honeysuckle got the better of a thrilling duel with market rival Benie Des Dieux.
Day two promises much. It starts with a horse who could in time prove a legend of the turf.
1.30 Ballymore Novices' Hurdle
Impossible to get away from Envoi Allen. He looks a generational talent who will surely add another illustrious chapter to his flawless biography here.
The Big Breakaway lacks experience but looks a serious talent. He can chase the favourite home.
Selection: Envoi Allen 4/6
2.10 RSA Novices' Chase
This looks a deep renewal. Copperhead is a highly progressive novice. There's no reason he can't take another step forward here. He's a bold jumper, and dour stayer. That combination can prove irresistible.
Battleoverdoyen is probably the best jumper in the race. He must have had a problem in Leopardstown last time out. He's greatly feared if bouncing back.
Selection: Copperhead 5/1
2.50 Coral Cup
Alfa Mix looks a horse going places. He can take advantage of what looks a fair mark here. It's possible that his recent Navan conqueror, Kilfenora, may pose the greatest threat.
Selection: Alfa Mix 10/1
3.30 Queen Mother Champion Chase
This race is poorer for the absence of Altior. It still promises to be a cracker.
Chacun Pour Soi's recent Leopardstown win is probably the strongest form on offer here. He also has the most potential. It's surprising he isn't favourite.
Definitely Du Seuil is unlikely to be easily subdued.
Selection: Chacun Pour Soi 6/4 *
*Chacun Pour Soi was declared a non-runner at 11am on Wednesday
4.10 Glenfarclas Chase
It's hard to shake the memory of Tiger Roll's demolition job in this race last year. His recent Navan comeback should have left him cherry ripe. He can record a fifth Festival triumph.
Easyland is the coming force in this division. He's feared in what looks a match.
Selection: Tiger Roll 1/1
4.50 Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle
Palladium, despite racing keenly, has recorded two impressive wins recently. The likelihood of a strong pace and plenty of cover should play to his strengths here. He looks competitively weighted.
Tronador can improve in first-time headgear.
Selection: Palladium 11/1
5.30 Weatherbys Champion Bumper
Darling Daughter ran out a ready winner in Leopardstown last time out. She needs to improve here but the likelihood of a stiffer stamina test will help. She can make the most of her mares allowance.
Whoever beats Appreciate It will probably win.
Selection: Darling Daughter 20/1
