A decision on the participation of Monitor Closely in the Ladbrokes St Leger will be made on Friday.
Trainer Peter Chapple-Hyam will meet with the colt's owner, Lawrie Inman, to decide whether to stump up the £45,000 supplementary fee for the Great Voltigeur winner.
The son of Oasis Dream finished eighth in the Guineas, fourth in the Dante and third in the Hampton Court Stakes earlier in the season.
‘I've got the owner coming down tomorrow, so we will have a chat then,’ said Chapple-Hyam.
‘With there only being 11 entries, it is certainly something to think about - we'll see what we decide tomorrow.
‘It's £45,000 to supplement, so it doesn't come cheap.
‘His performance in the Voltigeur threw me a little bit.
‘I knew he was in good form, and knew he was a decent horse, but being by Oasis Dream, and the way he travels in his races, I didn't think he'd stay - but he certainly did.’
Monitor Closely is a best-priced 10-1 for the final Classic of the season, despite not currently holding an entry.
