Murtagh passed fit to ride

Johnny Murtagh has been passed fit to return to action at Royal Ascot today following a fall on Tuesday. Murtagh was hit in the face by his mount Red Power and then thrown from the horse before the opening race of the five-day fixture, the Coventry Stakes.

He continued to ride, winning the King's Stand Stakes on Choisir and finishing second on Kalaman in the St James's Palace Stakes, before he gave up his last ride of the day. The leading jockey at the meeting for the last two years was stood down by the racecourse doctor yesterday, missing the ride on Royal Hunt Cup winner Macadamia.

After receiving treatment in the jockeys' room today he was given the go ahead to ride. His five rides today include Kasthari in the Gold Cup.
