Kieren Fallon showed why is champion jockey with a typically power-packed finish on Crystal Castle in the Brunswick Diadem Stakes at Ascot. Swedish challenger El Gran Lode made the early running but two furlongs out Acclamation went to the front tracked by Malhub.
Hills sent Malhub to the front soon after and looked to have the race in safe keeping but Fallon conjured a powerful challenge from John Hammond's French raider which carried them to the front right on the line to take the Group Two contest by a short head.
Acclamation, having his first race for over a year, was a very creditable third, two and a half lengths further back. Fallon was enjoying his first winner back since returning on Friday from a 14-day ban.
