Ascot immortalises Dettori in bronze

Five years after Frankie Detorri rode seven winners at Ascot, the jockey has been immortalised in bronze. Dettori's achievement has been recognised by the racecourse with a life-size sculpture of Britain's best-known jockey.

David Roper-Curzon, a world-reknowned artist, sculpted Dettori's statue, reflecting one of his best-known poses. It will be unveiled, before racing, by Dettori himself. In addition the meet will be preceded by a parade of two of the horses Dettori rode that day, Decorated Hero and Fujiyama Crest.

Dettori will then ride Noverre in the Queen Elizabeth II stakes, and is likely to be the favourite.
