Eddie Jordan has invited German driver Nick Heidfeld to drive for the Jordan team next season. Heidfeld is currently with the Sauber team but boss Peter Sauber is set to dispense of his services, while Jordan driver Giancarlo Fisichella and Ferrari test driver Felipe Massa are set to arrive at Sauber for 2004.
Irish team boss Jordan has been in talks with Mercedes about a new engine for 2004, worth an estimated 10 million dollars per year, and that could persuade Heidfeld to join the Jordan set-up.
Heidfeld's compatriot and team-mate Heinz Harald Frentzen is also counting down the days to a departure from Sauber. Despite a bitter departure from Jordan in 2001, he has also been linked with the team.
