Formula 1 driving ace, David Coulthard has suffered what is reported to have been slight injuries in a plane crash in central France, in which both the pilot and co-pilot were killed. The McLaren driver and two other passengers were travelling in a private Lear jet which crashed on landing at Lyon airport. The jet had been on course to Nice from Britain when it ran into difficulties and requested an emergency landing at Lyon.
Coulthard called his manager Ian Cunningham to confirm he escaped serious injury in the crash and has been taken to a local hospital. One of the other passengers aboard the plane was Coulthard's fiancee Heidi Winchelski. Coulthard proposed to the fashion model over the new year, but the couple said they had no plans to get married until the current season is over.
The McLaren team are confident that he will be able to drive in the next Grand Prix, in Barcelona next weekend.
