Donegal MMA fighter Joseph Duffy has been added to the bill for UFC 217 at Madison Square Garden in New York on November 4.

Duffy will take on James Vick in a mouth-watering clash which will offer the winner a real opportunity to push their case for a title shot in the lightweight division.

The Irishman recently signed a new seven-fight contract with the UFC and will be eager to improve on his 4-1 record in the organisation.

Duffy has put together back-to-back victories since a points decision defeat against Dustin Poirier at UFC 195 and this fight with Vick could represent a major stepping stone towards the top of the lightweight class.

Vick also comes into the bout on two back-to-back wins, with both coming via knockout in his home state of Texas. His last defeat prior to those two fights was a knockout again Beneil Dariush at UFC 199.

Elsewhere on the UFC 217 card Michael Bisping will go head-to-head with George St-Pierre for the middleweight title while Cody Garbrandt defends his bantamweight crown against TJ Dillashaw.
