The GAA's Central Hearings Committee has confirmed that Dublin hurler Liam Rushe will have his two-match ban for striking Waterford's Maurice Shanahan reduced.

Rushe will now serve a one-match suspension after the Central Competition Control Committee agreed with the CHC that the player should be penalised for striking with minimal force.

The Palmerstown native received the penalty during Dublin's All-Ireland quarter-final defeat against the Déise on 26 July.

In other disciplinary news, both Dublin and Armagh have been fined €6,500 after they lost their respective appeals for a charge of disruptive behaviour in a challenge match in June.
