Cork hurler Pa Cronin feels that Waterford always seem to raise their game against the Rebels and is expecting a “massive battle" on Sunday.
The sides meet in the Munster SHC quarter-final in Semple Stadium (4pm, live on RTÉ Two, RTÉ Radio 1 and available worldwide on RTE Player).
Cronin told RTÉ Sport: “I’ve played in a lot of Cork-Waterford battles and I can’t remember one of them being easy so they are unbelievable games.
“I don’t know what it is with Waterford but the sight of the red jersey brings out the best of them all the time so we’re going to have a massive, massive battle against them."
The beaten All-Ireland finalists are missing Eoin Cadogan with a hamstring injury but welcome back Paudie O’Sullivan, who suffered a double leg break 13 months ago.
“It’s a massive boost for us,” said Cronin. ”We’ve seen the work Paudie’s been putting in over the last year. It’s fantastic to see Paudie back on the playing pitch now.”
