Offaly 2-10 Galway 1-17

History was made this afternoon at Tullamore's O'Connor Park as the Galway senior hurlers played in a Leinster competition for the first time.

Aongus Callanan's eighth-minute goal set the Tribesmen on the way to qualifying for the Walsh Cup semi-finals in John McIntyre's first match in charge.

Offaly, whom McIntyre managed twice, were 1-10 to 1-03 in arrears at half-time.

Joe Bergin and Shane Dooley goaled for Offaly either side of half-time but late points from substitute Kevin Hynes and Adrian Cullinane saw Galway through.

Laois 0-14 Antrim 1-13

A speculative 58th minute goal from Brendan Herron proved to be the difference at Rathdowney as reigning Walsh Cup champions Antrim accounted for Laois.

Laois foraged into a 0-09 to 0-07 half-time lead with John Rowney and Brian Campion (0-03 each) leading the scoring.

But Antrim turned the game in their favour on the restart with a magnificent display, as the weather conditions improved.

Paul Shields (0-07) was deadly accurate from placed balls and Herron's strike ensured the win for the semi -final-bound Saffrons.

Kilkenny 6-12 Dublin 0-12

Clinical Kilkenny rammed home five second half goals to easily qualify for the Walsh Cup semi-finals at Parnell Park.

Anthony Daly's first competitive match in charge of Dublin finished in a heavy defeat.

The Cats, who led by 1-07 to 0-07 at half-time, had goals from Richie Hogan (2-02), Michael Grace (1-03), Aidan Fogarty (1-01), Michael Rice (1-01) and Patrick Hogan (1-00).

Alan McCrabbe (0-08) top-scored for the Dubs but early second half goals from Fogarty and Richie Hogan put the result beyond doubt.

Wexford 0-20 UCD 1-15

Wexford saw off a stiff challenge from UCD in testing conditions in the Walsh Cup at Ferns.

Diarmuid Lyng (0-05) top-scored for the hosts, as his side booked a semi-final date with Galway.

Wexford were comfortably ahead by 0-13 to 0-04 at half-time, but could only manage seven points on the restart as UCD seized the initiative.

A goal from Kilkenny's David Lyng brought the students back into contention, but Wexford showed great resolve to hold out for a hard-earned victory.
