Doran pulls out of Wexford hurling panel

With doubts surrounding the future of Adrian Fenlon, Wexford manager Seamus Murphy has received a further blow after promising young star Willie Doran pulled out of the county senior hurling squad for 2006.

Doran was practically an ever present during last year's national league campaign, while he figured in the championship as a substitute. Known for his versatility who is equally at home in defence or attack, his decision is a real blow to the side.

The Buffers Alley player has cited work and study commitments in his decision to make himself unavailable for the coming season.

Meanwhile the Wexford backroom team has introduced some of last year's All-Ireland winning intermediate squad to the panel.

Oulart-the-Ballagh duo, Paul Roche and Stephen Doyle are included, while Stephen Nolan (Faythe Harriers) and P.J. Nolan (Askamore) are also expected to figure in next Sunday's Walsh Cup senior hurling clash with Dublin in Parnell Park.

Also back in favour is St Anne's clubman Rory Stafford. Stafford was omitted from last year's championship squad but following an impressive club season he is once again included, despite the fact that he has already given a commitment to new football Manager, Paul Bealin.

However, the backroom team are not yet sure of the availability of veteran midfielder, Adrian Fenlon. The 33-year-old Rapparrees man will make a decision on his future on returning from the All Stars trip to Singapore.
