Shane Lowry endured mixed fortunes in his opening round at the Cadillac Championship in Miami, Florida.
The Offaly man carded a level par 72 around the Trump National Doral's Blue Monster course to sit in a tie just inside the top 40, eight shots behind clubhouse leader Cameron Young.
Lowry, who missed the cut at last week's Zurich Classic alongside fellow major winner Brooks Koepka, made a strong start on Thursday with back-to-back birdies in his opening two holes.
Those gains had been wiped out by the turn however, following bogeys on four and six. Another on the ninth left him one over.
Lowry bounced back quickly though with a birdie on 10 before briefly going under par again with another 12.
But he ultimately had to settle for level par after dropping a shot on 15.
World number four Young leads the way on eight under after a bogey free 64, with the American one shot clear of Alex Smalley and three-time major winner Jordan Spieth.
Nick Taylor is fourth on six under, while Nicolas Echavarria has sole possession of fifth after a five-under 67.
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is only one stroke better than Lowry after posting a one under par 71.
