Nelly Korda coasted to her third major with a five-shot victory at The Chevron Championship which restored her status as world number one.

The 27-year-old, whose last major triumph was two years ago at this event, was untouchable all week and never looked in danger of relinquishing the five-stroke margin she began the day with.

She made two birdies in her first three holes and was still five ahead at the turn and her first bogey at the 12th was followed immediately by back-to-back birdies to get to 19 under.

Korda, who returned to the top of the rankings for the first time since August, bogeyed the 17th but a final-round 70 meant she still finished well ahead of China's Ruoning Yin and Thailand’s Patty Tavatanakit.

By winning by more than two shots Korda became only the third player since 1980 – and first since 1991 – to win an LPGA major having led each round by multiple strokes.

Cavan's Leona Maguire was not involved having missed the cut on Friday after consecutive 76s.
