Leona Maguire remains in contention for a top 10 finish at the Marathon LPGA Classic in Ohio after a third-round 67.

The Co Cavan golfer is 10 shots off the lead on nine under ahead of Sunday's final round at the Highland Meadows Golf Club course in Sylvania.

She is currently in a tie for 15th but just one stroke away from the six-way tie for ninth.



Japan's Nasa Hataoka, who held a two-stroke lead at the halfway point, has extended her advantage to six after carding a 64 to move up to 19 under.

US pair Elizabeth Szokol and Mina Harigae are tied for second on 13 under after a 67 and 68 respectively.

Maguire, who enjoyed a surge on the front nine on Friday, made steady progress again in round three which proved to be her strongest of the tournament.

Birdies on eight and nine moved her up to seven under, before a bogey on 11.

But the 26-year-old finished strongly with three birdies in a row on 16, 17 and 18 to ensure that she starts Sunday's tournament conclusion from nine under and within touching distance of the top 10.
