Golf clubs will once again close as Ireland reenters Level 5 restrictions

Elite sport has been given the green light to continue as the country returns to Level 5 until "at least" the end of January, in an attempt to get the latest surge in cases of Covid-19 under control

The Taoiseach made the announcement this evening, confirming the increased restrictions, with elite and professional sports to continue behind closed doors, with no other matches or events permitted to take place.

Gyms, leisure centres and swimming pools will close from close of business tomorrow evening, while tennis and golf clubs will also shut.

Only individual training will be allowed with no exercise classes allowed both indoors and outdoors.

People are permitted to meet people from one other household in outdoor setting when exercising.
