Retief Goosen underlined his ability to to win all around the world with a four-stroke win over Jesper Parnevik in the BellSouth Classic in Atlanta on Sunday. The South African picked up the first prize of nearly £500,000 with a closing round of 70 for a 16-under-par total of 272 and heads into this week's Masters as one of the main dangers to Tiger Woods.
"In general, I'm very happy with the way I played," Goosen said. "Then again, I didn't play all that well this week, but I was chipping and putting great".
Despite playing in windy conditions, Parnevik surged up the leaderboard after starting the final round tied for 20th place with a final round 65 to finish at 12-under-par.
American Phil Mickelson shot a final round 73 to finish third at 11-under while defending champion Scott McCarron shot a 68 to finish fourth a shot further back. Dubliner Padraig Harrington shot a final round 74 to finish on 281.
