WEATHER
Saturday: A wet start on Saturday with falls of rain, sleet and snow in the morning, clearing to showers as milder air extends from the west by afternoon. Further outbreaks of rain will move in from the Atlantic through the evening. Afternoon temperatures will recover to highs of 5 to 10 degrees north to south. Staying quite breezy in fresh and gusty westerly winds.
Sunday: A wet and blustery morning with widespread rain and localised flooding possible. The rain will clear to sunny spells and showers by the afternoon, some of hail or sleet. Early afternoon temperatures of 7 to 12 degrees, but much cooler air will extend from the northwest later and some showers will turn to sleet over higher ground once again in fresh to strong and gusty westerly winds. Oulart and Sarsfields quickly close in on potential final 'rematch'
Just 65 days on from when Oulart the Ballagh beat Sarsfield's in an Úna Leacy-inspired victory to win the long-delayed 2020-21 AIB All-Ireland club final, the Wexford club will be within one victory of returning to the final stage of the 2021-22 competition.
Standing between Oulart and a place in the decider will be semi-final opponents Scariff Ogonolloe of Clare on Sunday afternoon.
And if Ursula Jacob and her team-mates were to win that and Galway's Sarsfield's beat three-time national champions Slaughtneil in the first of the semi-finals on Saturday, a fast-forwarded repeat of the 18 December 2021 final will be on the cards.
But neither side will be looking that far ahead given they have tough semi-final opponents to try and overcome first.
Galway and Cork get Division 1 campaigns underway
While club action is coming to the boil, the Littlewoods Camogie League has fixtures in all four divisions. Both of last year's All-Ireland finalists will be in action.
All-Ireland champions Galway, whose game with Offaly was called off two weeks ago, get their campaign underway in Division 1 Group 1 against Dublin on Saturday where they will hope to follow Tipperary in winning an opening group game. Tipp will be aiming to make it two wins from two themselves when they take on Offaly.
Preparation has not been ideal as Galway captain Sarah Dervan pointed out this week as she drove home the need for a merger between the GAA, LGFA and the Camogie Association: "(On Monday night), we're training on astroturf because we can't get any pitch facilities with lights. So it is a real struggle for us. We've trained on astro an awful lot this year so far and we're thankful of getting it, but it's not ideal.
"We're playing Dublin on Saturday so it's not ideal preparation for the first round of the league."
Meanwhile, Cork open their account versus Clare with the same aim as their 2021 All-Ireland final conquerors. Given Kilkenny got off to a winning start two weeks ago against Limerick, the Rebel County or the Banner can join the Cats at the top of Group 2 with victory at Cusack Park.
