Ballygunner star Barry Coughlan admitted that his side are eager to regain the Munster senior hurling title, having last lifted it in 2018.

Coughlan's side cruised to an impressive 2-27 to 0-13 victory over Roanmore in the Waterford final on Sunday, claiming their eighth consecutive county title.

Despite all their dominance in Waterford, Ballygunner have triumphed at provincial level just twice, in 2001 and last in 2018.

Coughlan is eager to put that right and ahead of his side’s next clash, which will come against the, as yet to be decided champions of Clare, he admitted that Ballygunner feel they have a point a prove.

"Every year we set our sights to win Munster and win the All-Ireland," the Waterford full-back said.

"Last time we were in it 2018 we won, the next year we got beaten by Borrisoleigh with a point at the last minute.

"Last year we didn’t have a Munster Championship so we feel like we have a good part to play in the Munster Championship yet, but it is very competitive.

"We don’t know where we will stand until we play those games but we will be out to try and win that."
