The Donegal 2020 county final saga has taken another twist as the ordered replay has now been postponed after a successful appeal by Naomh Conaill to Ulster GAA's Hearing Committee.

The provincial body noted that a rule had been infringed relating to video evidence and now the process must start again.

Naomh Conaill had won the delayed final on penalties on August 14, but the result was then appealed by beaten finalists Kilcar, who claimed that their opponents had exceeded the amount of substitutes they were permitted to use in extra-time.

Only three substitutes are allowed but John O'Malley and Kieran Gallagher were introduced during the first period, with Marty Boyle and Charles McGuinness brought on towards the end of the second period.

The Donegal Competition Controls Committee (CCC) were presented with a number of options, including awarding the title to Kilcar, but opted for a replay that was due to be played on Wednesday night.

However, Naomh Conaill’s successful appeal has led to the game’s postponement, with Kilcar now being left with the decision of whether or not to restart their appeals process.

"The replay of the 2020 county final scheduled for Wednesday, September 8 has been further postponed. Naomh Conaill's appeal to Coiste Éisteachta Cúige Comhairle Uladh was successful and Ulster GAA have noted that a rule was infringed relating to video and the process must re-start," Donegal GAA said.

"Kilcar's objection is to be remitted to CCC Dhún na nGall for re-hearing under a differently constituted (CCC Dhún na nGall) committee."
