Offaly safely negotiated a path to the Christy Ring Cup semi-finals as they continued their recent heavy scoring with a 2-39 to 2-17 win over Sligo at Markievicz Park.

As they are the only two teams in Group B, this acted as a play-off with recent Division 3A champions Sligo heading into the quarter-finals as a result of the defeat.

The sides were actually level well into the first half, but Shane Dooley's goal early in the second half opened the floodgates as Offaly eased through.

In Group A, Derry came from behind to beat Roscommon 0-19 to 1-15 in Athleague despite Darragh McCloskey’s red card early on. The result ensures that they, along with Wicklow, progress to the semi-finals with Roscommon facing a quarter-final derby with Sligo.

In the Nickey Rackard Group B play-off, Tyrone came from behind to record a 1-18 to 1-16 win over Armagh at the Athletic Grounds – Bryan McGurk with their goal. That ensures a semi-final spot with the Orchard County facing a quarter-final tie.

Last year’s finalists Mayo are also safely through to the last four following a 0-29 to 0-09 win over Leitrim.

In the Lory Meagher Cup, Louth responded to last week’s 21-point loss at the hands of Longford to beat Monaghan by eight points in Darver.
