Davy Fitzgerald believes the media coverage of the close contacts row with Clare has been "unreal" and considers the matter closed now that the HSE have "answered their things".
The Wexford manager was speaking in the wake of their 10-point defeat to Leinster champions Kilkenny at UPMC Nowlan Park.
Last weekend Clare manager Brian Lohan had outlined his "anger" over the way two of his players were selected as close contacts of Wexford players who had tested positive for Covid-19.
The story rumbled on for the week with Michael Martin, the county's GAA chairman, telling South East Radio that it had been the HSE who had decided who the close contacts were, and not the individual Wexford players involved.
But Clare GAA then released a statement which said that Lohan was standing by his claims of the previous Sunday.
Asked about whether he felt his management team and the Wexford county board still had questions to answer, Fitzgerald firmly suggested that the matter is over.
"The fact that you make so much out of it is pretty unreal," he said on RTÉ's Sunday Sport.
"I suppose you have to do your job but I'm a hurling man and I love the game and we'll do our best at Wexford. I think the HSE have answered their things and that's important.
"I think from your side of view you've got to stop. We need to get back to hurling and everyone does. That's all we're interested in doing.
"From my point of view there's a lot more made out of stuff than needs to be - that's being honest. We just need to get out and hurl.
"Let the HSE get out and do their job and that's it - end of story."
Sunday's game was a one-sided affair. The Cats struck for a goal - through Billy Ryan - after five minutes and they were always on top thereafter.
The gap was six at the first-half water break and they had stretched it to 14 - thanks in part to a goal from the sublime TJ Reid - at the break.
The second half was a more evenly fought affair, but Kilkenny were never under any danger of being caught as they picked up a first win over their neighbours since 2018.
Fitzgerald looked for the positives afterwards with their championship bow just four weeks away.
"I'm happy with the second half, considering we were 14 down at half-time," Fitzgerald pointed out.
"We were finding it hard to get a free in the first half - we didn't get one scoreable free in that time. There must be a reason. I think they got six or seven.
"I'd like the game to flow, no problem. But let it flow for both sides. That's very important.
"I actually thought Kilkenny were very good today. The way they used the ball is unreal. I think they'll be there or thereabouts.
"Patches of the second half we were getting back to what we're about. We still have a number of weeks to go until championship. We've Laois four weeks today. We need to get ready for that and we will.
"That's all we're thinking about in Wexford - getting ready for championship."
For Fitzgerald's opposite number Brian Cody it was a satisfactory day at the office.
His side were able to offer a response any time Wexford put consecutive scores together, and they maintained their perfect start to 2021.
"We're happy, we got the result on the back of a good performance, and that was good to see," Cody said afterwards.
"There was a strong wind out there for the second half, and obviously when we had the advantage of it as well. It was a question of making sure we kept concentration and kept focus.
"The work rate was very strong and that was the most important thing, definitely."
Asked about the performance of Billy Ryan, who scored 1-04, Cody said: "Billy has been out for a good while and he worked very hard to get back - he was bursting to get back. He certainly played very well."
