Cork footballer Mark Keane has emerged as a doubt for the start of the Australian Football League season after undergoing surgery on a finger injury.

The Collingwood player is expected to be sidelined for up to two months according to his club after a finger tendon procedure on his right hand.

Collingwood are due to begin their AFL campaign against Western Bulldogs on Friday, 19 March.

The 20-year-old returned home last year with his club's permission to feature for Cork during the 2020 Munster Senior Football Championship, coming on as a substitute to score the late extra time goal that knocked favourites Kerry out of the championship.
