Richie Hogan has been selected to start for Kilkenny as they face Waterford in Saturday's All-Ireland hurling semi-final at Croke Park.

The experienced Danesfort forward has been named at full-forward, while Walter Walsh and Colin Fennelly must make do with a place on the bench for the vital clash after falling to score last time out.

Hogan proved the supersub for the Cats in that Leinster final victory over Galway, scoring 1-02 from the bench, as Kilkenny fought back from a five-point deficit to win by two.

Manager Brian Cody has made three changes in all from the side that beat the Tribesmen, with Billy Ryan also named amongst the forwards.

Richie Leahy is ruled out through injury, which sees a formation shift as Paddy Deegan will start at left half-back, while Conor Fogarty looks set to start in midfield.

Waterford boss meanwhile Liam Cahill has named an unchanged side, meaning the same side that comprehensively defeated Clare last time out will start against the Leinster champions
