All-Ireland winning Dublin duo Niamh McEvoy and Sinéad Goldrick have joined the ever-growing contingent of inter-county footballers in the AFLW after signing for Melbourne Demons FC.

Both players have been central figures in Dublin's three-in-a-row success, and were nominated for All-Stars last week.

McEvoy told the PlayXPlay podcast that the Australian club had contacted them in May and they then asked for and received the blessing of Dublin manager Mick Bohan.

The pair proceeded to help Dublin to the 2019 All-Ireland, Goldrick scoring the victors' opening goal in the All-Ireland final against Galway, remarkably Dublin's only score in the first half.

A raft of Gaelic footballers have already been snapped up by AFLW clubs for the upcoming season, including Tipperary's Orla O'Dwyer (Brisbane Lions), Galway's Mairead Seoighe (North Melbourne), Leitrim's Aine Tighe and Louth's Kate Flood (both Fremantle), as well as the Mayo sisters Niamh and Grace Kelly (West Coast Eagles).

Clare's Ailish Considine last season became the first Irish player to win the AFLW Premiership when helping the Adelaide Crows triumph in April's Grand Final.
