Wexford GAA have announced that former Kerry star Paul Galvin has been nominated to take charge of the county's footballers on a two-year term.

The four-time All-Ireland winner and three-time All Star will be confirmed as manager of the Division 4 side subject to a county board vote next month.

If confirmed, he will succeed Kildare man Paul McLoughlin, who ended his two years in the hotseat after a heavy first-round qualifier defeat to Derry.

A statement from Wexford said that the Kerryman, who has worked as a fashion designer and in the media since his (second) inter-county retirement in 2016, had "impressed the selection committee during the interview process with his knowledge of and passion for the game along with his vision for Wexford football at both senior and development level".
