Kerry have received a boost ahead of their All-Ireland SFC Super 8s showdown with Mayo on Sunday, with James O'Donoghue in line to make a return to action in Killarney.

O'Donoghue missed the Munster final defeat of Cork after suffering a hamstring injury in the semi-final win over Clare.

However Peter Keane has confirmed the forward is back in training and he should be in contention to start the mouthwatering Fitzgerald Stadium clash.

Mayo produced a brilliant second-half recovery to pip Kerry to the Allianz Football League Division 1 crown at Croke Park at the end of March.

Trailing 2-03 to 0-05 at half-time after goals from Gavin Crowley and Stephen O'Brien, they hit back with three green flags of their own after the break to earn their first league triumph since 2001.

James Horan's men had beaten the Kingdom by 1-10 to 0-11 at Austin Stack Park earlier in the spring and will be looking for a hat-trick of wins come Sunday afternoon.
