While accepting that Liam Sheedy's return as Tipperary hurling manager is a brave move, former county star Shane McGrath is keen to accentuate the positives that he believes will follow the appointment.

On Monday evening, Sheedy's second coming as Premier boss was ratified at a county board meeting.

McGrath played on the side coached by the Portroe clubman that won an All-Ireland in 2010 and readily admits that the new management team "will be under pressure to deliver".

Speaking further on RTÉ Radio's Morning Ireland, McGrath said: "It's a brave thing that Liam is doing. He's coming back in as a guy who has won something and is looked upon as a legend in Tipperary - but he will be expected to deliver.

"He makes you believe you can do things on the field that you couldn't before"

"Yet, whatever Liam Sheedy brings to anything it will be 100 percent, his heart will be in it. He's a Tipperary man and he loves hurling. I can only see positives for Tipperary in 2019."

As to what attributes mark Sheedy out as manager, McGrath added: "He makes you believe you can do things on the field that you couldn't before - he puts you in that frame of mind and that goes for everybody on the panel. He also makes you a better person off the field.

"Liam Sheedy is a top guy in every sense of the word."
