Back-to-back All-Ireland champions Galway have claimed five spots on the 2018 Electric Minor Hurling Team of the Year.

The Tribesmen claimed their second consecutive All-Ireland last month following a seven-point victory over Kilkenny in Croke Park, with the Cats providing four players for that team for 2018.

Among the Galway players are Donal O'Shea, son of former Tipperary manager Eamon, who scored 10 points in the All-Ireland final. He's joined by goalkeeper Patrick Rabbitte, defenders Shane Jennings and Seán Neary, and fellow forward Dean Reilly.

Defensive duo Jamie Young and Darragh Maher make the cut for Kilkenny along with midfielder Conor Kelly and Ciarán Brennan in attack.

The remaining spots on the team of the year have been awarded to Tipperary (3), Dublin (2) and Limerick (1).

Speaking about the team, Electric Ireland Minor Star Awards judge Michael Fennelly said:

"I’m delighted to have been a part of the panel and help select the skilled players who make up this year’s Hurling Team of the Year. Honouring players at this level is so important as it may be the only time that they pull on a County jersey so it’s great to be able to mark that occasion for them.

"These players have performed exceptionally throughout the season, giving it their all at every match. Their talent is a testament to the families and communities that have supported them on their journey, and they’ve earned their place on the Team of the Year."
