Mullinalaghta (Longford) 0-14 - 1-09 St Loman's (Westmeath)
Longford champions Mullinalaghta’s reward for edging past St Loman’s in the Leinster club quarter-final is a date with All-Ireland favourites St Vincent’s.
James McGivney’s claimed the final score of the opening half that saw the Longford outfit take a 0-07 to 0-05 lead at the interval, with Jayson Matthews and David McGivney’s frees nudging them ahead.
On the resumption of the second half, Mullinalaghta goalkeeper Paddy Rogers pulled off a fine save to deny Kieran Kilmurray.
A goal from St Loman's breathed life back into the contest, and despite the impressive scoring exploits of the McGivneys, the Westmeath side levelled matters with seven minutes remaining.
However, points from captain Shane Mulligan and a late free from McGivney sealed the win, though not before Rogers was called into action in injury-time to deny Kilmurray for a second time.
Next up for the victors is a daunting date with St Vincent’s after they overcame Palatine.
