O'Rourke: Mayo need O'Shea to produce the goods in replay

Colm O'Rourke feels that Aidan O'Shea failed to produce the goods when it mattered for Mayo in their drawn All-Ireland football final.

Speaking in the RTÉ studio after Mayo and Dublin could not be separated after more than 77 minutes of football, the Meath man said O'Shea was a peripheral figure on a team of heroes.

He added that if Mayo are to triumph in the replay on 1 October, manager Stephen Rochford needs to get a "five-star performance" from O'Shea.

His fellow panellist Pat Spillane said that Mayo got their defensive match-ups, the subject of much pre-match debate, spot on.

The All-Ireland winner with Kerry said that unlike in previous years, the westerners were "defensively solid".

Joe Brolly expanded on this point, adding that the big difference with the Mayo team is the fact they no longer concede goals at critical times.

Brolly said: "The last time they played the Dubs in a big game they conceded 3-05 in the last 11, 12 minutes.

"Today there was no sense the Dubs were going to score a goal."
