Kieran McGeeney has been confirmed as Armagh senior football manager for a third year.

The 2002 All-Ireland-winning captain will again be assisted by Aidan O'Rourke, though he will not also be in charge of the Orchard Men's Under-21s this time around as former senior boss Peter McDonnell takes over.

Armagh suffered a disappointing year, with relegation from Division 2 of the Allianz Football League followed by an early Championship exit after defeats to Cavan and Laois.

The Armagh County Board were also moved to publicly defend their manager after strong criticism of his performance from Sunday Game analyst Joe Brolly.

Sylvester McConnell has been retained as the county's senior hurling manager.
