Tipperary star Brian Fox struggled to put the Premier County's progress to the All-Ireland semi-finals into words, but said that victory over Galway at Croke Park "means the world" to the county.

Liam Kearns' side blew the doors off Connacht champions Galway at GAA headquarters on Sunday, their free-flowing attack leading the way to a 3-13 to 1-10 win and a first appearance in the last four since 1935.

Echoing a similar sentiment to goalscoring team-mate Conor Sweeney, Fox told RTÉ Sport: "Words can't describe this day. We said at the start of the year that we had a few goals and one of them was being in a quarter-final at Croke Park.

"We want to play here and it's not often we get to do it, and to go out there and do what we did... I won't say it was our best game ever but we played fairly well, you know?

"We did enough to win, but it's hard to put into words the feeling. To see those supporters and how much it means to them. I see people running around from the Cusack Stand, trying to meet us, we're a small knit family but it means the world to them and it means the world to us."

"We're a small knit family but it means the world to them and it means the world to us."

Fox was listed in the half-forward line but was deployed in the role of sweeper and was a key figure in Tipperary's success as the Éire Óg Annacarty man hoovered up his fair share of breaking ball.

"I'm probably naturally a back so I'm used to playing in front of fellas like that at the club or whatever, but it's just part and parcel of the game now, that one fella is designated to it," Fox said.

"I was lucky enough to mop up some balls that broke free, but one to 15 everyone was on it. Everyone was tuned in, everyone was up for this game and we knew we had a chance if we performed."

Tyrone and Mayo face off next weekend for the right to face Tipperary on 21 August, and Fox admitted that the squad hadn't yet had time to process their return trip to Croker.

"I haven't even thought about it, you can't afford to think about it," he said. "But we're there now and our goal is to win it."
