Roscommon half forward Cathal Cregg believes the side that learns the most form today's drawn Connacht football final will come out on top the next day.
Speaking after his side's 1-10 to 0-13 draw with Galway in Salthill, Cregg admitted there were a lot of mistakes made by both sides in a game that was badly hampered by the weather.
The Western Gaels man said "it was very hard conditions for both teams and I think both will be happy enough to get another day out."
The weather conditions had a big impact on the quality of football, with Galway corner forward Danny Cummins saying "the wind in Salthill always plays havoc with a game."
However, the Claregalway man, who scored three points, said his side won't use the conditions as an excuse.
He also agreed with his Roscommon counterpart that both side were "happy to take the draw at the end."
Cummins also attributed the defensive set-up of both sides to the inclement conditions. Somewhat agreeing, Cregg said the sweeper deployed by Galway negated the Rossies long-ball tactics.
"I suppose Galway had a lot of people sweeping so if they broke it out they'd mop it up again.
"We put in a couple and Galway got their hand son it so we had to start running it at that stage."
Enda Smith's first-half goal had handed Roscommon a 1-06 to 0-06 lead at half-time, but with the elements in their favour in the second-half Galway were slight favourites in many peoples eyes.
Cummins says they were "confident going out [at half-time] but the big fault you don't want to get into is that the wind is going to win the game for you"
Rather than change tack, Galway decided to stick with what they were good at it in the second-half, and it almost paid off.
"We mentioned at half-time to stick with what we were doing - getting the ball through the hands and picking our scores.
"We got ourselves sin a winning position with a few minutes to go but we left Roscommon with a chance and in fairness to them they got their points to see it out."
Indeed, Roscommon had a chance to steal it at the death but couldn't create the scoring opportunity they needed, meaning the sides will meet again in Castlebar next Saturday.
