Mayo footballers look set to be without Ger Cafferkey and Jason Gibbons as they bid to salvage their season following their defeat against Galway in the Connacht semi-final.
Cafferkey did not line out against the Tribesemen owing to a hamstring injury and is due to see a specialist later this week.
It has emerged that the injury is much worse than initially feared and the full-back could now face three more months on the sideline - and so miss out on any involvement in the All-Ireland series.
Midfielder Gibbons is out for the rest of the campaign after sustaining a dislocated shoulder at McHale Park last Saturday.
