Dublin manager Jim Gavin insists his side are "excited" to be playing their first championship game outside of Croke Park since 2006 this summer.

The All-Ireland champions will face Laois or Wicklow in Kilkenny's Nowlan Park on 4 June, which will be their first tie away from HQ since a narrow win over Longford at Pearse Park a decade ago.

"We're really looking forward to it," Gavin told RTÉ Sport. "In the National League this year we were in Carrick-on-Shannon, Castlebar, Newry and travelling to Kilkenny is going to be a special occasion for us all."

The Dubs boss doesn't believe the change of scenery will affect his players however, as they go in search of an incredible 11th provincial title in 12 years.

"At this level, once the ball is thrown in, the venue doesn't have much effect on the game," he said.

"From a Dublin perspective, we understand that we need to get a team performance against Wicklow or Laois and that's what we'll be driving for in a couple of weeks time.

"The incentive is to do our very best to represent Dublin. Each game we play, it's that process that we go after.

"We understand that to be involved in the Leinster competition we're going to have to put a big performance in against Laois or Wicklow."
