Offaly were goal hungry as they claimed a 4-28 to 0-10 win over DIT in the Bord na Mona Walsh Cup at O’Connor Park.

The hosts stormed to a 0-9 to 0-2 lead after 23 minutes, and led by 2-12 to 005 at half-time, with Sean Cleary and James Mulrooney netting goals.

Mulrooney fired Offaly’s third goal against his former college on the restart, and completed his hat-trick late on.

Carlow claimed a 0-19 to 1-13 win over Meath at Páirc Tailteann.

The Royals gave a strong account of themselves in their first appearance in the competition for a number of years, but came up against some impressive point-scoring by the visitors.

Carlow led by 0-11 to 0-7 at half-time, and although Meath netted a goal it wasn’t enough.

Westmeath claimed a slender 2-20 to 2-17 win over DCU in a highly entertaining contest at St. Loman’s, Mullingar.

The hosts led by 0-13 to 1-5 at the interval, with Sean Grey raising the green flag for the Students' goal.

Westmeath led by 1-16 to 1-10 entering the final quarter, and although Niall Dowdall grabbed a second goal for Westmeath, a late goal for DCU ensured a tense finish.
