Footballer of the Year Jack McCaffrey says Dublin can’t afford to stand still if they want to build on their All-Ireland success.
The men from the capital won Sam Maguire in 2011 and 2013 but both title defences ended in shock semi-final defeats, to Mayo and Donegal respectively.
Jim Gavin’s men saw off Kerry in September’s decider and Clontarf defender McCaffrey knows they must improve if they are to avoid a similar fate next year.
“One of the lessons from 2014, one of many, would be that you can’t afford to just be as good as you were the year before or produce the same kind of stuff that you did the year before,” the 22-year-old told RTÉ Sport.
“There’s a target on our back now. Everyone is looking to take us down but we’re going to go out and try and win every game.”
Dublin open up their Leinster Championship defence against either Laois or Wicklow.
