All-Ireland semi-final man of the match Seamus Callanan paid tribute to departing Tipperary manager Eamon O'Shea after the Premier County's defeat to Galway at Croke Park.
O'Shea has stepped down after three seasons in charge of Tipperary, with assistant manager Michael Ryan set to replace him for next year.
"It's very disappointing, for ourselves and for Eamon," said the Drom & Inch man.
"Eamon has put in so much and we all feel like we owe him now for his efforts.
"He puts an awful lot into it, and time into us as players, on and off the field, so he'll be sadly missed.
Callanan scored 3-09 in a superb individual display but he admitted that that scoring a hat-trick felt insignificant in defeat.
"Today it worked out for me but things like that are no good when you're not getting into the first weekend in September," he said.
"That was our goal and we came up short. Galway pulled away at the end there and we wish them all the best in the final."
