Captain Eoin Donnelly hailed Fermanagh’s sharpshooters as they staged the most unlikely comeback against Roscommon.

John Evans' charges arrived in Brewster Park as favourites to progress in the qualifiers. Everything was going according to script as they led by five at the break and looked good to push on for the win.

However, they didn’t expect a late home-side surge, which saw them lose out by a point.

Forwards Tomas Corrigan (0-05) and Sean Quigley (1-03) did the damage and Donnelly was quick to praise his team-mates.

“They're super, two great lads, two great forwards, accurate,” he told RTÉ Sport.

“We know if we get them opportunities, get them a wee bit of space [they'll score].

“Sean thankfully got turned at the end and got the shot away and it just went over the bar and that was it.

“In a few years’ time they’ll just look back at the scoreline and they won’t really know when the scores came but thankfully for us it came at the right time. We just about nicked it.”
