Ireland manager Anthony Tohill is set to call upon Donegal All Star defender Karl Lacey if Emmet Bolton is unfit to play a part in this Friday's second Test against Australia in the Gold Coast.
The Kildare wing-back was hospitalised with concussion following an accidental clash with Australia opponent Mitch Robinson in last Friday's first Test in Melbourne and although scans showed that there was no serious damage, Bolton still remains a doubt heading into the deciding test in which Ireland have a 44-point advantage going into.
It means that Lacey is likely to see some game time, after being drafted in to the squad by Tohill as a stand-by.
