The semi-final pairings for the GAA handball 40x20 All-Ireland senior doubles were decided over the weekend with reigning champions Dessie Keegan and Joe McCann (Mayo) to continue the defence of their crown with a 21-9, 21-5 victory over Wexford’s Gavin Buggy and Paul Lambert.
The Mayo men put in a confident performance against their Model County opponents and will now face Limerick duo CJ Fitzpatrick and Seamus O’Carroll in the semi-final.
The Treaty men recorded a 21-18, 21-15 victory over Antrim’s Ricky McCann and Seamus O'Tuama at Cappagh, Limerick, to book their semi-final spot.
In Kingscourt, Cavan, last year’s defeated finalists Paul Brady and Michael Finnegan (Cavan) saw off the challenge of Dublin’s Eoin Kennedy and Egin Jensen on a 21-8, 21-20 scoreline.
Antrim’s Aisling Reilly overcame Roscommon’s Katie Costello in the ladies' senior quarter-final at the same venue.
Kildare’s Anna Spence recorded a superb win over Kerry’s Ashley Prendiville to book her semi-final spot, while Roscommon’s Marianna Rushe is also through to the penultimate stage of the championship.
In the remaining men’s open quarter-final, Meath’s Brian Carroll and Tom Sheridan will face Armagh’s Charly Shanks and James Doyle, following the postponement of their game on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the All-Ireland minor final will be contested by Galway’s Martin Mulkerrins and Limerick’s Padraig O’Carroll following their semi-final victories at the weekend.
The Tribesman held out to take a 21-9 third game win over Kildare’s Niall O’Connor, while O’Carroll recorded an emphatic victory over Monaghan’s Padraig McKenna.
