Laois manager John Sugrue still sees plenty of room for improvement for his side after they claimed a convincing Round 3 Qualifier victory over neighbours Offaly.
Surgue's men cut loose up front at times as they bagged a 0-20 to 0-15 victory, with the Kingston brothers Donie and Paul leading the line.
However despite the nature of their victory, Sugure was not 100% convinced by his side’s performance and believes they can be more clinical in front of goal.
Speaking to RTÉ Sport, he said: "[It was] good to win. It was always going to be tentative against close neighbours and Offaly have improved an awful lot in the last few weeks. Even since they finished the league they’ve come on in leaps and bounds.
"When you go from playing against Divison 3 and Division 4 teams to playing a first or second division side, you've work to do"
"But in saying that I thought we were wasteful through tracts of the second half and shot a number of wides so we still have work to do."
For Sugrue today’s victory is the continuation of a rebuilding process which started with last week's victory over Derry, after suffering defeat to Meath in the Leinster Championship.
"We were in rehab last week," he said. "It took us the whole of the first half to get going and then we found a little rhythm in the second-half. Today at various stages we played well and other times we were a little bit slack."
Laois go into Monday’s morning’s draw knowing they will face either Cork, Galway or Cavan in Round 4. While Sugrue acknowledges that whoever they're drawn against will represent a big step up, it’s something he’s relishing.
"We’re still trying to build something here and we’ve got a big step up now next weekend," he insisted. "When you go from playing against Divison 3 and Division 4 teams to playing a first or second division side, you’ve work to do.
"To be fair to our guys they really have put in a good shift today. We’ve just got to keep our heads now and really go at next weekend as hard as we can.
"It’s a great chance for us to really step up against the opposition we’re playing and see how we can cope."
