Donegal manager Rory Gallagher admits he is unsure whether experienced duo Rory Kavanagh and Anthony Thompson will line out for the Ulster champions this year.
Midfielder Kavanagh (32) played with club St Eunan’s until their Ulster club SFC semi-final defeat to Omagh St Enda's in November and is believed to be considering his inter-county future after a long season.
Defender Thompson (28) is currently working in England.
“Rory has had a long club season so we decided to leave Rory off until January," Gallagher said. "He is probably the oldest member of the squad.
"It is very clear-cut with Anthony Thompson. He is in the UK at the minute. Himself and his girlfriend are both working over there. We will just have to monitor the work situation.
“We will not be rushing any of them. We will know by mid-January."
Donegal lost their opening McKenna Cup game to Derry on Sunday.
